Yoga and breathwork practice — settling into stillness

About the practice & Mikyji

Mikyji is a yoga and breathwork teacher in Australia who has been incorporating mindful practices for over four years. Currently offering courses and workshops online, Mikyji presents a diverse range of workshops and training courses, including an online 6-week wellness module that can be undertaken without prerequisites.

Yoga and breathwork offer an art of stillness. We settle into floor-based shapes for 2–5 minutes, using conscious breathing and props to gently stress connective tissue and invite release. Sessions weave mindful attention, spacious pacing, and nervous-system down-regulation so you leave grounded and clear.

Training & lineage: Bachelor of Psychological Studies; 200-hour foundational teacher training completed in Goa, India; a 14-day intensive at the Sivananda Ashram; ongoing study integrating self-inquiry, slow mindful movement, embodiment, energetic refinement, and meditation with an emphasis on mindful awareness.

Movement and stillness

Yoga

Mindful yoga combines gentle movement, steady holds, and rest to support the body while building a more attentive relationship with sensation.

Mobility & flexibility

Gradual movement and supported holds can ease stiffness, maintain joint mobility, and encourage a comfortable range of motion.

Strength & balance

Stable postures develop practical strength, coordination, and balance without requiring fast or forceful movement.

Body awareness & rest

Slower pacing creates space to notice physical signals, release unnecessary tension, and settle into restorative rest.

Conscious breathing

Breathwork

Guided breathing practices use gentle, intentional changes in rhythm and attention to help you feel grounded, present, and connected.

Nervous-system regulation

Slow, comfortable breathing—especially a longer exhale—can support the body’s natural shift toward calm and relaxation.

Focus & clarity

Following the breath gives the mind a steady point of attention, helping reduce mental noise and support clearer awareness.

Emotional steadiness

Breathing with awareness creates a useful pause, offering more space to notice emotions and respond at your own pace.
